Nimbin Health & Welfare Assoc. Inc (NH&W) is a community based non government organisation made up of workers from the health and welfare industry and community members. NH&W auspices Nimbin Aged Care and Respite Services and the Nimbin Physical Activities Project.
Nimbin Aged Care and Respite Services is a community based service for older people, people with disabilities, aged aboriginal people, isolated people from all walks of life, along with the carers of these groups. We have a varied client group that seems to be on the increase.
This service has been operating from Nimbin for approx 18 years. Our geographical service area extends from Goolmangar through Nimbin to Mt Burrell, Barkersvale, then over to The Channon, Dunoon, Dorroughby, and to Tullera.
Nimbin Community Transport is an outreach Northern Rivers Community Transport (NRCT) service and has been working in partnership with NACRS for 12 years. The transport service is essential to geographically isolated clients to access health appointments. Promotion of social interactions such as group meetings and bus excursions has been shown to increase periods of wellness for clients such as these combine services support.
