We’re so happy to see the new Nimbin Birds signs now proudly standing along the Rainbow Walk — sharing the beauty, stories and songs of our local birdlife. Each bird is accompanied by a beautiful description written by local community members, making this installation extra special. The Indigenous names for each bird were generously provided by Uncle Lewis and Gilbert Laurie, a local Bundjalung artist of the Yaegl and Widjabul tribes, based here in Nimbin.

A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful sponsors who made this project possible: Birdlife Northern NSW Nimbin Community Centre Nimbin Chamber of Commerce Nimbin Environment Centre Nimbin School of Arts

And a special thank you to Wick, for his design skills and inclusion of the birdsongs and to Diana Roberts, for bringing all the pieces together so beautifully.

Come by, scan a code and listen — it’s a beautiful installation connecting art, Country and nature.
